LIN Television Selects LinuxForce.net
LIN Television has chosen powerful LinuxForce gateways to link two of their locations.
Philadelphia, PA May 1, 2000 LIN Television selected LinuxForce to design and build turnkey Gateways for their San Juan, Puerto Rico television station (WAPA) and their Providence, Rhode Island headquarters. LIN Television contracted with LinuxForce based largely on the latter's ability to fulfill its commitments to deliver cost-effective Linux® solutions within its customers' required time parameters.
LinuxForce provided gateway systems allowing LIN Television to interconnect its Providence headquarters with its Puerto Rico satellite office's LAN (Local Area Networks). Each server is configured to handle the dial-in function automatically at the required transmission time. These dual modem gateways met LIN Television's need for high bandwidth network routing services between the two locations.
Chris Fearnley, Chief Technology Officer for LinuxForce said, "we used Linux's teql driver (a standard configuration option with the 2.2.x series of kernels) to load balance the two modems installed in each machine. The Linux teql driver was so efficient that the bandwidth between the two systems was nearly doubled."
